I want to tell you about the very first book I ever narrated: "Czaritan: Book One of the Crimson Tribune Saga." I’m so excited to have shared this story with listeners. From a voice acting perspective, this was a tough but rewarding challenge. The book has over fifteen characters, and it was tricky to make each one sound unique.
When I first started working on "Czaritan," I remember feeling a bit overwhelmed by the sheer number of distinct personalities I had to portray. Each character had their own unique voice, mannerisms, and emotional range, and it was crucial to bring them to life in a way that was both believable and engaging. For example, Darla has this sweet, gentle voice, while Tommy has a much gruff and hardened tone. I had to really focus on the small details, like their accents, speech patterns, and even the way they breathe, to make them sound like completely different people.
There were moments where I had to switch between characters in the same scene, which required a lot of focus and vocal control. I would go from performing a delicate conversation as Darla to delivering a harsh retort as Tommy in a matter of seconds. It was definitely a test of my abilities, but it pushed me to grow as a voice actor.
Looking back, I'm so proud of how far I've come in less than a year! "Czaritan" taught me so much about the art of audiobook narration, and it gave me the confidence to take on even more challenging projects. I'm incredibly grateful for the opportunity to have worked on such a rich and complex story, and I can't wait to share more of my voice acting journey with you all.
